Hythe 11/02/2012 – Princes Parade

I went for my first session this for 2012 at Hythe Princes Parade. I arrived at about 10:30 having picked up my bait from Micks. It was cold but with a lovely blue sky above.

I set up at the far right near the stone and concrete groins close to the white bus shelter. I had just cast out when the phone rang and it was JW sitting in his car behind. He came down and set up and cast out. We were having a natter and I decided to pull in my lines to check and replace bait. I had a nice surprise when I pulled this little critter out…

A 5 bearded Rockling. I have never caught one before or even seen one before in the flesh. So thats species one for the year.

Nothing was touching the squid that I had out so I set up a wishbone rig and sent it out. I noticed a small twitch after about 15 minutes and so pulled that in to find a double shot of dab. So thats species two.

JW had pulled in a few whiting so I changed to a 2 hook flapper to try and one of those as they seemed fairly illusive all day. After a while I managed one.

So that was three species. A gentle flow of whiting followed. Eventually I had about 8-10 in all, I stopped counting after the first one.

We started packing up just before 5 as the sun was just heading below the horizon and it started getting cold.

Was good to get and also catch up with JW.
